INSTRUCTIONS: GEORGIA EXEMPT ORGANIZATION UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME TAX RETURN (Form 600-T)

 

 

Estates or trusts operating in Georgia which are exempt from business taxes but which are required to file a federal form 990-T to document unrelated business income are required to file a form 600-T with the state as well. This document can be obtained from the website of the Georgia Department of Revenue.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 1: At the top of the form, indicate with a check mark if filing an amended return, a return amended due to IRS changes, a return documenting an address change, or if a UET Annualization Exception is attached.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 2: Give the calendar year for which you are filing or the beginning and ending dates of the fiscal year in question.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 3: Give the name and address of both the organization and the fiduciary. 

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 4: Give the organization's federal employer identification number, NAICS code, the date of its current exemption letter, and the IRS code section under which it is exempt.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 5: On line 1 of Schedule 1, enter your unrelated business income taxable as documented on federal return 990-T. Attach a copy of this return. 

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 6: Enter additions on line 2. Add lines 1 and 2 and enter the sum on line 3.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 7: Enter subtractions on line 4. Subtract line 4 from line 3 and enter the difference on line 5.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 8: On line 1 of Schedule 1, multiply the value on line 5 above by 6%. Enter the sum of applicable credits and payments already made on line 2 and withholding credits on line 3. Subtract these from line 1 and enter the difference on line 4.

 

Georgia Exempt Organization Unrelated Business Income Tax Return 600-T Step 9: Lines 5 through 8 concern adjustments based on underpayment or late filing and payment. If you have overpaid, enter the size of your expected refund on line 9.
