INSTRUCTIONS: MONTANA INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURN (Form 2)

 

 

Those who owe individual income tax in Montana pay it via a form 2. This document is obtained on the website of the Montana Department of Revenue.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 1: Give your name and Social Security number. Include the same information for your spouse if filing jointly. If one or the other is deceased, give the date of death.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 2: Give your mailing address.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 3: Indicate your filing status with an "x" next to the appropriate line.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 4: Indicate your residency status with an X. Part year residents must give the date on which they moved out of or into the state, and the state from which they moved or the state they moved into.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 5: Give the names, Social Security numbers and relationship to you of all dependents. Indicate if they are disabled.

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 12: Lines 46 through 53 adjust your tax through application of nonrefundable credits and recapture taxes.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 13: Lines 54 through 65 adjust your tax liability based on refundable credits and payments already made. 

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 14: Lines 66 through 70 adjust your tax liability if paying late or making voluntary contributions.

 

Montana Individual Income Tax Return 2 Step 15: Lines 71 through 74 contain the final calculations necessary to determine the amount you owe to the state or are owed from the state through a refund.
