Form Sales and Use Tax Return Quarterly

INSTRUCTIONS: RHODE ISLAND SALES & USE TAX RETURN QUARTERLY

Rhode Island businesses which sell tangible personal property are required to regularly file a sales and use tax return with the state's Division of Taxation. Most businesses are required to file on a monthly basis. However, if your business averages less than $200 a month in combined sales and use tax liability for six or more consecutive months, you may file on a quarterly basis if your request is authorized in writing by the state's tax administrator. This document is found on the website of the Rhode Island Division of Taxation. This form must be filed even if you have no sales to report for the quarter in question. Consumers should instead file a form T-205 in order to report use tax due on items purchased from a retailer in another state on which no state tax was paid.

Rhode Island Sales & Use Tax Return Quarterly Step 1: Three copies of the form are included on one page. Separate these on the dotted line. Mail your return in duplicate and maintain one copy for your records.

Rhode Island Sales & Use Tax Return Quarterly Step 2: Enter your name, address, city, state and zip code in the first box on the code.

Rhode Island Sales & Use Tax Return Quarterly Step 3: An owner, partner or the authorized agent of either should sign the form and provide their title.

Contact the state's EFT division at the phone number listed if you are uncertain as to whether this is required of your business. Otherwise you may pay by check.
