INSTRUCTIONS: OHIO APPLICATION TO EXTEND ADMINISTRATION
In order for an Ohio fiduciary to request that their administration of an estate be extended beyond six months, the form discussed in this article should be filed. This document can be obtained from the website maintained by the Supreme Court of Ohio.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 1: Enter the name of the county in which the probate court overseeing this case is located on the first blank line.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 2: Enter the name of the estate on the second blank line.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 3: Enter the case number you have been assigned on the third blank line.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 4: Where indicated, provide a written explanation for why it would be detrimental to the estate and its beneficiaries or heirs to file a final distributive account or certificate of termination within six months of the fiduciary being appointed.

Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 7: Enter the registration number of the attorney on the next blank line.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 8: File the form with the overseeing probate court, which will complete the document. After reviewing the application, the probate judge will check the first statement if an account or certificate of termination will be due no later than 13 months after the appointment of the fiduciary.
Ohio Application To Extend Administration Step 9: The probate judge will check the second statement if they choose to specify an extended due date for an account or certificate of termination.
