INSTRUCTIONS: MAINE APPLICATION FOR VETERAN EXEMPTION
Maine military veterans who have reached the age of 62 and served during a recognized war period, as well as those who became disabled as the result of military service or who were awarded an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, may apply for a permanent exemption on their property tax payments. This document can be found on the website of the Maine Department of Revenue, which processes the application.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 1: On line one, enter your name and telephone number.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 2: On line two, enter your mailing address.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 3: On line three, enter your legal residence.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 4: On line four, enter your date of birth.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 5: On line five, enter the date on which you entered military service.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 6: On line six, enter the address of your legal residence on the date you entered the armed forces.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 7: On line seven, enter the date on which you were discharged or left the armed forces.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 8: On line eight, give your military service serial number.
Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 9: On line nine, note with a check mark whether you receive 100% disability pension payments or any other compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs. If yes, give all information requested about your disability.

Maine Application For Veteran Exemption Step 14 15: File the document with the assessor of your municipality of residence. You must attach evidence of your eligibility, such as a letter from the Veterans Affairs department.
