INSTRUCTIONS: VERMONT NOTICE OF CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP 

 

In all Vermont changes of ownership of agricultural, forest or conservation land, as well as farm buildings, the state's Property Valuation and Review division must be notified. The property must continue active agricultural or forest use or a use tax may be applied. This document can be found on the website of the Vermont Department of Taxes. All sections must be completed and all copies must have the original signatures of all landowners.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 1: In section one, you are describing the property prior to the transaction. Give the names of all previous landowners and a contact mailing address for at least one owner.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 2: Give the name of the town in which the property is located.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 3: Give the parcel identification number of the property and its School Property Account Number (SPAN).

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 4: Give the number of acres in the property and the number of acres excluded from this transaction.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 5: Give the number of barns, greenhouses, sheds, silos, farm crop processing facilities, employee housing and sugarhouses, as well as the total of all such buildings.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 6: Give the number of acres that are agricultural, productive forest, nonproductive forest and conservation.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 7: In section two, give the name and address of the person to whom property was transferred, the date on which ownership changed, and the number of acres transferred.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 8: Section three describes the property following any such transaction. Give the name and contact mailing address of the purchaser.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 9: Give a description of the physical location of the property. Enter the number of acres which are owned and how many were excluded from the transaction.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 10: As in the first section, detail the number of all buildings and the number of acres of land in each category.

 

Vermont Notice Of Change Of Ownership Step 11: All owners from the first section should sign and date the form.
