INSTRUCTIONS: MISSOURI INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURN — LONG FORM PACKET (Form MO-1040)

 

 

Missouri residents, part-year residents and non-residents can use a form MO-1040 to file their individual income tax owed to the state. This document is found on the website of the Missouri Department of Revenue along with a number of supplementary forms which may need to be attached, which are discussed here.

 

Missouri Individual Income Tax Return — Long Form Packet MO-1040 Step 1: The first form in this packet is the actual long-form income tax return.

 

Missouri Individual Income Tax Return — Long Form Packet MO-1040 Step 2: The next document, form MO-A, allows for you to detail income tax adjustments. These include Missouri modifications to your federal income, itemized deductions, contributions to public, private and military pensions, and Social Security or Social Security disability benefits received.

 

Missouri Individual Income Tax Return — Long Form Packet MO-1040 Step 3: The next document, form MO-HEA, is for the use of those who underwent a home energy audit. Here you document the name of the auditor and the recommendations they  made.

 

Missouri Individual Income Tax Return — Long Form Packet MO-1040 Step 4: The next document, form MMO-NJD, is for the use of small businesses which have created new jobs which lasted at least 52 weeks. These render small businesses eligible for tax credits. All employees must be documented as instructed on the second page of this form.
