INSTRUCTIONS: OKLAHOMA APPLICATION FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION (Form OTC-921)

 

Any Oklahoma resident who purchases property is required to file a form OTC-921. If approved, this document will grant an exemption on property tax for this primary residence. Those who qualify for an exemption include a single person of legal age, married couples with children, minor children of deceased people, or surviving spouses. Once approved, this document will remain in effect provided the applicant is not delinquent on any property payments. The document can be obtained from the website of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

 

Oklahoma Application For Homestead Exemption OTC-921 Step 1: At the top of the page, enter the name of the county in which you are filing and the tax year in question.

 

Oklahoma Application For Homestead Exemption OTC-921 Step 2: Part one requests information about the applicant. Give your full name including your middle initial, your account number, the property address in question, a mailing address and a daytime phone number where you can be reached.

The last question concerns whether you currently or had previously received a homestead exemption for another property within the state. If so, give the address.

Part 2A is about property which has already been purchased, while part 2B is about property that will be purchased.

Oklahoma Application For Homestead Exemption OTC-921 Step 8: Once your homestead exemption has been approved, you must notify the county assessor of any change in the use of the property in question. Failure to do so may result in a penalty of twice the taxes which should have been paid.
