Form DTE-23 Application for Real Property Tax Exemption and Remission

INSTRUCTIONS: OHIO APPLICATION FOR REAL PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION AND REMISSION (Form DTE 23)

 

Ohio non-profits and certain businesses as defined by the state's revised code may apply for an exemption for property tax. Consult the state's website and review chapter 5709 of the state laws to determine whether you qualify. The form can be obtained from the website of the Ohio Department of Taxation.

 

Ohio Application For Real Property Tax Exemption And Remission DTE 23 Step 1: In the section labeled "Applicant Name," give your name and the address to which all notifications should be sent.

 

Ohio Application For Real Property Tax Exemption And Remission DTE 23 Step 2: In section 1, give the parcel numbers of all property in question. All parcels must be located in the same school district, whose name should be given in section 2. In section 3, give the property acreage. In section 4, give the street address or location.

 

Ohio Application For Real Property Tax Exemption And Remission DTE 23 Step 4: In section 5, give the name and address of the property owner. If different from the person applying, explain why in section 6. In section 7, indicate with a check mark or written explanation the status of the applicant. Section 8 asks for the date of property acquisition, and section 9 asks for the name of the person or entity the title was acquired form. Attach a copy of the deed. If you have a lease or land contract, indicate this in section 10 and attach a copy. In section 11, give the amount paid for this property.

 

Ohio Application For Real Property Tax Exemption And Remission DTE 23 Step 7: In section 12, give the date on which exempt uses of this property began. Detail the section of the Ohio Code which qualifies you for exemption in section 13. In section 14, provide a specific description of the uses of this property.

 

Ohio Application For Real Property Tax Exemption And Remission DTE 23 Step 8: Sections 15 through 17 concern other uses of the property or other residents or users of it. In section 18, indicate whether you have received exemptions for other property in the state. Note all requirements in sections 19 and 20 for property used for charitable or senior citizen purposes. Sign the third page and provide all requested information. Complete the treasurer's certificate on page 4.
