The form discussed in this article is filed as a petition to establish a death that occurred as the result of an accident or disaster in Michigan in which the body of the presumed decedent either is unidentifiable or has disappeared. This document must be filed no less than 63 after the accident or disaster and no later than 7 years after the incident.
